18x20" / 7/8" painting created in the summer of 2020. This canvas is another exercise in fauvism and mood. The scene and palette are adapted from Janice Robertson's book Acrylic Basics. The work began by covering the canvas in dioxazine purple. I sketched the basic structure of the scene on the canvas using chalk. Using a palette comprised of cadmium red, cadmium yellow dark, titanium white, and phthalo blue I painted the scene. The overall effect, is a stylized rendering of a nostalgic autumn scene that you might find hanging in your next hotel room.
