24x30" / 7/8" acrylic pour abstract created in the summer of 2020.  This pour explores multi-layering.  It began by using masking tape to bisect the canvas horizontally into series of 1.5" rows.  Working from the top  down, I painted every other row with dioxazine purple.  Once the canvas dried, I removed the tape and then used masking tap to bisect the canvas vertically into a series of 1.5" columns.  Working from left to right, I painted every other column using quinacridone red. Once the canvas dried, I removed the tape.  I then used masking tape to bisect the canvas diagonally into 3 sections.  For the second layer, I performed an acrylic pour using the same palette:  dioxazine purple, titanium white, and quinacridone red. Once the painting dried, I carefully removed the masking tape breaking the pour layer and completely exposing the painted base layer.  The end result is complicated piece, which draws the user in from a distance and up close.
