18x20" / 7/8" abstract created in 2019. This painting is a study in transparency, depth and secondary colors. The palette explores the secondary colors green and violet. It consists of 4 layers. The base (background) layer is dioxazine purple (violet). Using a 1/2” fan brush dipped in cadium green blended with titanium white, I covered the background with repeated swirls. In order to create a mist like effect, I then covered the bottom half with titanium white blended with dioxazine purple. The fourth (top) layer establishes horizon line with tree like structures painted in bone black. The interplay between the layers makes the green swirls seem like vegetation or trees in the distance.
