18x20" / 7/8" abstract created in 2019. This painting is the fourth canvas in a 4 panel series that explores the use of repeated shapes. Each of these pieces incorporates the use a 2" diameter round sponge to create circular shapes. In this panel, the idea is combine the use of shapes with the techniques developed in my earlier works. The sponge is used to create a 4x5 grid of grayish, textured circles. The grid is then split using a taped white line to create an exaggerated slanted horizon line. The left side is then covered with an ultramarine blue gradient. The right is then covered by a complimentary orange gradient using pyrrole orange. The colors are warm. The transparency and its interaction with the shapes is interesting drawing the viewer in.
