11x14" / 7/8" abstraction created in the spring of 2020. This work is the second canvas in 5 panel set inspired by the pandemic. Using acrylic pour techniques, in each panel I attempt to re-create the spiked CORVID-19 molecule, which defined the branding of the pandemic in 2020. In this second panel, I began by covering the canvas with a layer of nickel azo yellow. I prepared pouring mediums using titanium white, fluorescent pink and hanse yellow, which I then layered into a single pour cup. I then placed a 6" diameter / 2" cardboard cylinder on the center of the canvas and poured the medium into the center. After letting it set for approximately an 2 hour, I removed the cylinder. Using a palette knife, I created spikes by dragging it from the center outward along the circumference of the circle.
