11x14" / 7/8" abstraction created in the spring of 2020. This work is the third canvas in 5 panel set inspired by the pandemic. Using acrylic pour techniques, I attempt to re-create the spiked CORVID-19 molecule, which defined the branding of the pandemic in 2020. In this third panel, I began by covering the canvas with a layer of metallic gold mixed with quinacridone red. I prepared pouring mediums using naphthol red light, ultramarine blue and metallic gold and layered them in a single cup. I then placed a 6" diameter / 2" cardboard cylinder on the center of the canvas and poured the medium into the center. After letting it set for approximately an hour, I removed the cylinder. Using a palette knife, I created spikes by dragging it from the center outward along the circumference of the circle.
