20x20" / 1.5" painting created in the spring of 2020. The work is a further exploration of fauvism techniques. It began by covering the canvas with graphite gray. I then used white pastel (chalk) to sketch some flowers and apple on the canvas. Using a palette of hanse yellow, ultramarine blue, light ultramarine blue, titan buff, quinacridone red and fluorescent green I filled in the chalk outline with color. Finally, I washed off the chalk and sealed the painting using a heavy gloss. The overall effect, is a stylized rendering of flower and apple placed a top a table that you might find hanging in your next hotel room -- boring but possibly my best work to this point.
