24x30" / 7/8" acrylic on canvas. This piece can only be understood via origin story. It began in 2019 after an introductory life coach session. I talked about my X, and I couldn't describe the person I wanted to be with. My homework was to visualize who I saw myself with. I turned the assignment into art project, which I later showed to a friend. They commented that doesn't look like a female or a male. Shocked by the critique, the canvas went to the recycle pile and I parted ways with the life coach. However, I just couldn't gesso it-- the face was too haunting. Time, life and acrylic spray paint led to a new idea in July 2021. The refactored piece could be interpreted as a figure trapped indoors amid pandemic or as someone silently living a bitter, unplanned, in-cell existence, which I once knew so well.
